$200k Gift Upgrades Video Conferencing in College of Business

July 19, 2011

A $200,000 gift from the Kirschman family has allowed the University of New Orleans College of Business Administration to purchase state-of-the-art video conferencing equipment which will significantly improve the College’s capabilities. The equipment is installed in the AT&T Technology Center located in Kirschman Hall on the UNO campus.

In order to better serve both traditional students and those engaged in distance learning, the UNO College of Business Administration identified the need for a true online interactive environment.

“We are elated about this most generous gift from the Kirschman family,” said John Williams, interim dean of the College of Business Administration. “We now have the ability to expand our programs and provide seminars and certificate programs.”

The new equipment, which Williams says “will give the College a portal to the world,” will allow for improved distance education and interaction with faculty and students in UNO’s Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico.  The technology features the Accordent Media Management System, the industry’s first platform for managing, securing and measuring the effectiveness of rich media communications on an organizational scale.

The UNO AT&T Technology Center uses collaborative computing and immersive virtual reality in its executive meeting space to help the best decision-makers make better decisions.
