UNO students shovel mulch while other volunteers get some pointers on planting.
University of New Orleans faculty, staff, students and alumni joined dozens of Goldman Sachs volunteers on May 16 to plant 140 new trees along the northern edge of UNO’s lakefront campus. The project was organized by Hike for KaTREEna, a local nonprofit focused on replanting trees lost in Hurricane Katrina, and funded by Goldman Sachs.
The Goldman Sachs employees were in town for a prime brokerage conference and chose to spend their day of service helping to beautify UNO’s campus. Many of the trees were planted in close proximity to the newly opened Lakeshore Drive entrance and exit, located adjacent to the Homer L. Hitt Alumni & Visitors Center.
The UNO community thanks all of the volunteers who participated, especially the employees of Goldman Sachs and Connie Uddo, director of Hike for KaTREEna.
