
Mignon Charvet's costume design for "An Experiment With An Air Pump" was showcased at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
University of New Orleans students Caroline Langlois, Cliff Thompson and Mignon Charvet participated in the 2011 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) National Festival in Washington, D.C. from April 19-23. In January and February, college students from eight regions across the nation presented their work, and select productions and artists were chosen by a national selection team to be showcased as the finest among their peers at the Kennedy Center.
Film, theatre and communication arts (FTCA) student Caroline Langlois was one of 16 actors from approximately 1,600 nationally who was selected to perform at the national festival. Fellow FTCA student Cliff Thompson served as Langlois’ partner, assisting her in a six minute presentation.
Costumer designer Mignon Charvet, also an FTCA student, displayed her designs for Theatre UNO’s production of An Experiment With An Air Pump. She was one of only eight designers selected to display her work, and she was the first runner-up in the competition. All of the students also attended workshops with professionals throughout the week and received feedback on their work.
The KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. It is dedicated to encouraging, recognizing and celebrating the finest and most diverse work produced in college and university theater programs.
