Donna Reed, University of New Orleans director of records and registration, has received the Exemplary Service Award from the National Student Exchange (NSE). The award was presented to Reed at the NSE’s annual placement conference in March in Portland, Maine. Assisting in the coordination of NSE is one of Reed's responsibilities at UNO.
The award is given to NSE campus coordinators who manage their campus NSE programs in such a way as to be a model for other coordinators in the consortium. The NSE is a tuition-reciprocal exchange program, similar to study aboard, for students enrolled at nearly 200 member universities in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
In presenting Reed with the award, National Student Exchange leaders praised her for her continued enthusiasm and interest in the success of the NSE. According to NSE President Bette Worley, Reed sets a standard for the consortium in how to manage campus exchange activities while providing conscientious and caring support for her students and her colleagues in the consortium.
Founded in 1968, the National Student Exchange has offered more than 10,000 students the option to broaden their educational, cultural and personal horizons through exchange to another campus in North America.
