University of New Orleans master's of urban and regional planning student Evan Casper-Futterman is the winner of the American Planning Association’s Economic Development Division Graduate Scholarship. Casper-Futterman’s paper, entitled “Back to Basics: Worker Cooperatives as Economic Development,” earned him a $1,000 scholarship.
According to the scholarship committee, Casper-Futterman’s analysis of community stabilization using worker cooperatives was thoughtful and well-conceived. His winning paper was selected from 16 graduate-level submissions.
A native of New York City, Casper-Futterman holds an undergraduate degree in geography from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was honored at the division’s annual business meeting during the annual American Planning Association conference in Boston held April 9-12.
Established in 1974, UNO’s master’s of urban and regional planning is the only accredited professional planning program in Louisiana.
