University of New Orleans student Andrew Dinett has been selected as the Outstanding Undergraduate Student by the ACPA Commission on Admissions, Orientation and First Year Experience (AOFYE).
Dinett, a junior majoring in business administration, is from Metairie and graduated from Rummel High School. He was nominated for his involvement and outstanding contributions to the University. Dinett is not only a student assistant in Admissions, he also served as an orientation leader for the past two years, Privateer Camp krewe leader last summer, Student Activities Council member, and also a University Success peer mentor and Admissions transfer mentor. He played on UNO's division winning Club Football team as well.
The Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award is presented to a full-time undergraduate student who has significantly contributed and impacted his/her institution. Criteria for nomination include:outstanding service or special contributions to admissions, orientation, or a first-year experience program within his/her own system;evidence that the student has gone above and beyond normal expectations; special projects and/or ideas that have been implemented at his/her institution; evidence that the student has high academic standards; and experiences in fostering inclusiveness and appreciation of differences.
Dinett is the second UNO student in the past three years to receive this national award.
