The University of New Orleans men’s basketball team could not be back in the Crescent City for Fat Tuesday, so the Privateers brought the party to Memphis. Players and coaches handed out Mardi Gras beads to patients and their families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Privateers also took a tour of the facility.
“This visit to me is one of the most important activities our team will have all season,” said head coach Mark Slessinger. “The young people who are patients at St. Jude are the true heroes and champions. It is an honor and privilege to have an opportunity to visit, listen, learn and make some people smile.”
UNO was in town to play a Wednesday night game against Christian Brothers University in Memphis.
