A Krewe of UNO rider hands out throws to the crowd on UNO's campus
The University of New Orleans held its third annual Krewe of UNO Mardi Gras parade on campus on February 9. Pat Gibbs, president of the UNO Foundation, served as king—dressed as Long John Silver—and Peggy Gaffney, from the UNO College of Business Administration, was queen—dressed, appropriately, in a Queen of Hearts costume.
The theme of the parade was “Fairy Tales Come True.” The event featured four floats, marching bands from Edna Karr High School and Brother Martin High School, horseback riders and the Shriners as well as various student and UNO community groups. The route started in front of the University Center and did two loops around campus.
