The University of New Orleans chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. won the "Chapter of the Year" award at the 49th Louisiana District Conference last weekend in Alexandria, La.
The Theta Phi chapter competed against several undergraduate chapters from across the state. It's the first time the UNO chapter has won the award. The winning chapter will advance to the regional conference in March to compete against winners from Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Chapter members include: Trenton Thomas, president; Frederick Johnson IV, vice president; Avery Coleman, treasurer; Devin Watson, secretary and Alvin White Jr., sergeant-at-arms. The chapter's on-campus advisor is Christy Heaton and the graduate chapter advisor is Dennis Sigur.
