University of New Orleans President Peter J. Fos spent his first few hours on the job welcoming students back to class on the first day of the spring semester. Last month, Fos was selected president by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. He is the sixth leader and the first president in the history of UNO.
Fos greeted students and helped hand out pastries and fruit in the quad between Milneburg Hall and the Liberal Arts Building. Fos is a New Orleans native and UNO graduate who most recently served as a professor and program director at the LSU Health Sciences Center. Prior to that, he held administrative positions at the University of Texas at Tyler and the University of Southern Mississippi.
