Retired History Professor Named UNO Student Advocate

University of New Orleans professor emeritus of history Gerald Bodet has been appointed the University student advocate. This position was created to help UNO students understand university procedures and overcome problems that may arise during registration and throughout the semester.  The student advocate will supplement and support the other offices on campus that assist students.

The student advocate’s current office hours are 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday and 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Bodet’s office is in Milneburg Hall, room 159. He can be reached at 280-6222 and gbodet@uno.edu.

Bodet was a member of the UNO history department from 1963 until his retirement in 2001. Since retirement, he has studied environmental history and taught that course in the UNO-Costa Rica program. Bodet and his wife, Janet, have seven children.
