A performance from University of New Orleans music professor Ed Petersen and NEA Jazz Master Von Freeman will air on NPR’s Jazzset, broadcast locally on WWNO 89.9 FM on Saturday, October 1 at midnight. The two saxophonist greats participated in a “Battle of the Tenors” from New Year’s Eve at the famous Green Mill in Chicago.
Petersen is the coordinator of the UNO jazz studies program and a multiple Grammy nominee. On New Year’s Eve 2010, Petersen and long-time playing partner Von Freeman were featured in a nationwide broadcast from Chicago on NPR’s “New Year’s Eve Coast to Coast.”
