History Department to Hold World War II Lecture

The University of New Orleans history department will hold the 13th George G. Windell Memorial Lecture in European History at the National World War II Museum on Thursday, January 27, 2011.

Jeffrey Herf, a professor of modern European history at the University of Maryland, College Park, will present "Nazi Propaganda and Policy Toward North Africa and the Middle East During World War II and the Holocaust: New Research About Old Questions."

Herf's research and teaching focus on the intersection of ideas and politics in modern European history, especially in 20th century Germany.

The event will take place in the National World War II Museum's Louisiana Memorial Pavillion. A 6:00 p.m. reception will precede the 7:00 p.m. lecture, which will be followed by a book signing.  For more information on this free event, call Jeremy Collins at (504) 528-1944 ext. 331.
