For the second time in two weeks, the presidential search at the University of New Orleans is the focus of an editorial from a prominent New Orleans newspaper. The editorial “Get It Right: It’s Time For UNO to Take Its Place Among the Nation’s Leading Urban Universities” appears in this week’s edition of The Gambit. It closes with, “UNO's success is vital to the region and to the state. That the university reestablished itself after Hurricane Katrina is a testament to the resiliency of its faculty and students. Now it's time for UNO to take its place among the nation's leading urban universities. Selecting the right person as UNO's next president will be the first and most important step in that journey.”
On July 23, The Times-Picayune ran the editorial “An Important Search For a New President at the University of New Orleans.” In says that, “UNO ought to become a catalyst for our region’s recovery, and it’s important that UL System officials find a leader with the experience, vision and drive to carry out that mission.”
In July the University of Louisiana System appointed a 14-member search committee and initiated the UNO presidential search. All of the search committee meetings will be held on the UNO campus, and will be open to the public.
