The Zonta Club of New Orleans is selling poinsettias to help fund a UNO student scholarship.Zonta Club of New Orleans is selling poinsettias for $12 each to help fund a full tuition scholarship of $2,000 for a non-traditional female UNO student.

11/19/2009  Capital One Contributes $405,000 in Grants to Benefit New Orleans Schools
Capital One has announced on November 19 $405,000 in education-related grants to the New Beginnings Schools Foundation and the Capital One-University of New Orleans Charter School Network. A strong supporter of UNO and its charter school network, Capital One has contributed a total of $1.7 million since 2006.

11/18/2009  UNO-led Planning Team Wins National Competition and Cash Award for Nonprofit Ninth Ward Partner
A rendering of the grocery store proposed for St. Claude Avenue in the Ninth Ward.The planning team composed of students from UNO, LSU and DePaul won first place and $25,000 for its nonprofit partner in the JP Morgan Chase Communtiy Development competition.The UNO/LSU/DePaul team won first prize and $25,000 for its nonprofit partner in the JP Morgan Chase Community Development Competition for the entry "5523 St. Claude Avenue: Bringing Fresh Food to the Lower Ninth Ward," a proposal for a grocery store in the Lower Ninth Ward.

The Lafitte footprints on campus walkways will be repainted by spirited volunteers on Friday, November 20.Lafitte needs a make-over and all are welcome to show their Privateer Pride by joining Student Affairs in repainting the Lafitte footprints around campus on Friday, November 20. Participants will meet at 12:30 p.m. in the Milneburg Hall, Room 159 and painting will continue throughout the afternoon.
