Cancelled: September 23 Honduras Meets NOLA Celebration at Ogden Museum
9/22/2009
(September 22, 2009, New Orleans, La.) - The Honduras Meets NOLA celebration scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art/University of New Orleans has been CANCELLED.
In response to President Zelaya's return to Honduras on September 21, the de facto government of Honduras has implemented a curfew and the airport is closed. As a result, Dario Euraque, one of two scheduled speakers, is unable to leave Honduras.
Because events are rapidly evolving in Honduras, and because the Honduras Meets NOLA event revolved around a panel discussion in which Professor Euraque's presence was central, the event will be rescheduled for a later date, said Steve Striffler, the UNO Doris Zemurray Stone Chair in Latin American Studies and Professor of Anthropology.
