Bienville is Topic of July 9 History Ya-Ya Talk at Cabildo

(June 29, 2009, New Orleans, La.) - Geographer Richard Campanella will speak on the topic of his latest book, Bienville's Dilemma, on Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. as the free History Ya-Ya lecture series continues at the Louisiana State Museum's Cabildo on Jackson Square.
The monthly History Ya-Ya lecture series exploring Louisiana's historical and cultural legacies is co-sponsored by the University of New Orleans Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies and the Louisiana State Museum.
In addition to investigating archives and mapping historical census data, Campanella's research for Bienville's Dilemma included exploring the streets of New Orleans on bicycle and on foot. Campanella is a research professor of earth and environmental sciences at Tulane University and associate director of the Center for Bioenvironmental Research at Tulane and Xavier Universities.
Upcoming presentations include: on August 13, A Spanish Gentleman in 19th Century New Orleans, by UNO history graduate student Rafael Delgadillo; and on September 10, Orphanages and Charity Societies in Antebellum New Orleans, by UNO graduate student Mark Duvall.
