UNO Thinks Pink with Events in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

The University of New Orleans is Thinking Pink this month with several activities in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
On Monday, October 19 at 6 p.m., the UNO Earl K. Long Library will host a program in collaboration with the Young Breast Cancer Survivors Organization the Douglas "Dougie" Hitt Room (407). Breast cancer survivors will share their stories and health care professionals will be available to answer questions.
On Tuesday, October 20 at 7 p.m., the UNO volleyball team will host a Paint the House Pink event at its match with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the Human Performance Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink that night in lieu of their Privateer blue. There will also be a fund-raiser at the match.
Lady Privateers basketball members are selling pink Croc sandals at volleyball matches through October to benefit the Kay Yow/WMCA Cancer Fund. For more information, contact Angela Marin at (504) 280-7244.
Earlier this month, campus organizations participated in a Paint the Campus Pink event hosted by Zeta Tau Alpha sorority in Each participating organization decorated a designated area of campus sidewalk with pink chalk.
UNO has also hosted the Susan G. Komen Foundation On the Go tour and held a blood drive in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
