UNO Psychologist Laird to Present Research at Science Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

Robert D. Laird, University of New Orleans associate professor of psychology, will represent the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) at the 15th annual Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) Exhibition and Reception on Capitol Hill on March 24.
Laird, who specializes in childhood research, will present a poster titled "How Does Parenting Change When Children Turn Into Teenagers?" Laird's research, a three-year study of 218 mother-child pairs called the Baton Rouge Families and Teens Project, was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The event, which will feature engaging table-top exhibits explaining scientific advances in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines is titled The Path to Innovation: Scientific Discovery and Learning. Thirty-four NSF-supported research and education projects will be presented.
